Difficult-Alloy Precision CNC Machining
Precision Molybdenum CNC Machining Services
Complex Geometry | Tight Tolerances | Complete Traceability
We manufacture high-precision molybdenum components for semiconductor, aerospace, and medical applications. From engineering prototypes to controlled low-volume and repeat production, AXALLOY provides the machining expertise, process stability, and quality documentation your team requires.
Machining Molybdenum the Right Way
Molybdenum is notorious for its abrasive nature, brittleness, and tendency to chip during machining. It is not a material for standard commodity machine shops.
At AXALLOY Precision, we specialize in difficult-to-machine alloys. We understand that successfully machining molybdenum requires rigid workholding, optimized toolpaths, specialized cutting tools, and strict thermal control. Whether your project requires 5-axis milling for complex structural parts, Swiss turning for micro-components, or Wire EDM for intricate profiles without mechanical stress, we engineer a manufacturing process that guarantees your parts meet print specifications.
We are built to support international OEMs, Tier 1/Tier 2 suppliers, and engineering firms who value manufacturability, process control, and dependable communication over simply the lowest unit price.
Our Molybdenum CNC Machining Capabilities
We leverage advanced multi-axis CNC equipment and specialized non-traditional machining processes to achieve critical features on molybdenum parts.
Multi-Axis CNC Milling
- Equipment: 3-axis, 4-axis, and 5-axis CNC machining centers.
- Precision: Tolerances down to ±0.005 mm; positioning accuracy to ±0.005 mm.
- Capabilities: Complex contours, deep pockets, thin walls (down to 0.5 mm), and precision interfaces.
- Part Size: Up to Ø500 × 400 mm (5-axis) / 1,000 × 600 × 600 mm (3-axis).
Precision CNC Turning & Mill-Turn
- Equipment: 2-axis CNC lathes, 9-axis Mill-Turn centers, and 7-axis Swiss CNC lathes.
- Precision: Diameter tolerances down to ±0.005 mm; concentricity down to 0.008 mm.
- Capabilities: Combined operations for complex rotational parts requiring fewer setups and perfect feature relationships. Minimum machined diameter down to Ø0.5 mm (Swiss).
Wire & Sinker EDM (Ideal for Molybdenum)
Because molybdenum is prone to chipping under heavy cutting forces, Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) is often the optimal solution for complex features.
Wire EDM
Cutting accuracy down to ±0.005 mm, minimum cutting width of 0.15 mm, and surface finishes down to Ra 0.8 μm. Perfect for narrow slots and sharp internal corners.
Sinker EDM
Minimum internal corner radius of R0.05 mm, ideal for deep cavities and blind features without inducing mechanical stress.
Precision Grinding
- Capabilities: Surface, cylindrical, and centerless grinding.
- Precision: Flatness down to 0.003 mm; surface finishes down to Ra 0.2 μm for critical sealing surfaces and bearing fits.
Engineered for Procurement & Quality Teams
We know that a machined part is only as good as the documentation that accompanies it. We support your quality engineers and sourcing managers by mitigating supply chain risk through rigorous process control.
Upfront Engineering Support
Before a single chip is cut, our engineering team reviews your drawings. We provide DFM (Design for Manufacturability) feedback, evaluate tolerance feasibility on molybdenum, plan custom fixturing, and develop a robust manufacturing process.
Comprehensive Quality Inspection
Our temperature-controlled inspection lab is equipped to verify the most demanding GD&T requirements.
- CMM Measuring: Up to 700 × 1,000 × 600 mm (Accuracy to 1.8 + L/300 μm).
- Optical & Surface: Optical measurement (±0.002 mm) and surface roughness testing (Ra 0.05–40 μm).
Traceability & Documentation
We provide the project-specific quality records your industry demands:
- Material Test Reports (MTRs) & Mill Test Certificates
- First Article Inspection (FAI) Reports
- Full Dimensional Inspection Reports & Ballooned Drawings
- Certificate of Conformance (CoC)
- Material and Lot Traceability
Production Volumes & Lead Times
We bridge the gap between initial design validation and stable production.
